Rev. Ottis Johnson Jr., Pastor

Pastor Ottis Johnson, Jr was born in Guyton, Georgia, on February 9, 1966, to Ottis and Della Johnson. He is the oldest of seven children.  He was raised by his grandmother, Sister Rosa L. Badgett.  He graduated from Effingham County High School and, after high school Ottis would join the Georgia National Guard in 1984. He would enlist in active duty, January 1988 when joined the United States Army, were he gained the rank of Sergeant.

 

Pastor Johnson accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in his life at an early age.  He enjoyed playing his trombone from the age 13 where he was a member of the Madison Melodies of Joy at the United House of Prayer for All People.  At this church he would be ordained as an Elder under Bishop S.C. Madison and Apostle Charles Gibbs on August 18, 2002. 

 

Pastor Johnson would serve there as a Youth Pastor and serve as President of Presidents, until moving to the Garden of Prayer Christian Church under the Leadership of Apostle Melvin B. Tuggle, II and Pastor Brenda Tuggle.  On August 3, 2014 along with serval other Pastors, Pastor Johnson was set aside, to go out and establish the Garden of Prayer Christian Church-West in Woodlawn, MD. 

 

Pastor Johnson has been married to First Lady Tracey Johnson for seventeen years and from this union they have two daughters Makayla and Maleah.  Who keep them both on their toes.  Pastor Johnson works at The National Gallery of Art where he is the Union President for AFGE Local 1831, and he is a proud member of Prince Edward Lodge #1 of The Most Worshipful Maryland Grand Lodge Prince Hall Origin, where he serves as Worshipful Master and the Grand Chaplin. But most important he serves as one of the Pastors at The Tree of Life Baptist Church.
